Alpha Science Classroom: DIY colorful dinosaur eggs

Children’s favorite is dinosaur toys, but they don’t know how dinosaurs were born? Alpha science classroom hopes to use simple kid’s science experiment activities to let children understand how dinosaurs hatch, and at the same time let them learn about simple single chemical experiment activities and become the most powerful dinosaur experts.

Alpha Science Classroom: DIY color dinosaur egg making materials

  • 1 cup of ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda per egg
  • 1–2 Cups Vinegar
  • Miniature dinosaur toys
  • Large bowls
  • 1/4- 1/3 cup water per egg
  • Food coloring
  • Spray bottle for vinegar (optional)
  • Rubber gloves (optional)
  • Cookie Sheet or Tray

Alpha Science Classroom: DIY Colorful Dragon Egg Making Instructions

Step 1.Make the dough

kids Pour Baking Soda in a bowl. Add several drops of food coloring to a cup of water. Slowly add water in small amounts to the baking soda and mix until a doughy consistency is reached; the mixture should be damp and mold-able but not too wet.

Step 2: Make dinosaur eggs

Children wear gloves to prevent their hands from being soiled by the food coloring. Put some in your hand, and then put the dinosaur toy on it. The children covered the dinosaur with more baking soda mixture and formed it into an egg shape, hiding the dinosaur inside.

Step 3: Dry

The children put the dinosaur eggs on a tray or baking sheet to dry for several hours or overnight.

Step 4: “Hatch” a dinosaur egg!

The children pour the vinegar into a small cup or a squeeze bottle. Put one of the dinosaur eggs on the big tray or cookie. Squeeze or pour the vinegar onto the dinosaur egg and observe the reaction after the dinosaur egg dissolves.

Step 5:Hatch more dinosaur eggs

Continue to dissolve more dinosaur eggs until a miniature dinosaur hatches! Is this scene with the kids very cool?

Alpha science toys recommendations:

Parents can prepare different toys for their child according to his or her personality. If your child likes marine animals and even toy cars, replace them with dinosaurs.

Alpha Science Classroom: The science behind DIY colorful dinosaur eggs

The children’s science experiment activity introduced to children by Alpha science classroom this week is another example of the classic chemical reaction between vinegar and baking soda. When baking soda, AKA sodium bicarbonate, and vinegar, AKA acetic acid come into contact, a chemical reaction occurs.

Part of this reaction involves the decomposition of carbonic acid which results in carbon dioxide. When you squeeze vinegar on top of the baking soda eggs the acetic acid reacts with the sodium bicarbonate to dissolve the eggs. The fizzing you hear and all the bubbles you see in the vinegar is the carbon dioxide bubbles being produced in this chemical reaction.

Alpha science toys are also part of the children’s reaction involving the decomposition of carbonic acid, which produces carbon dioxide. When children pour vinegar on baking soda dinosaur eggs, acetic acid will react with sodium bicarbonate to dissolve the eggs. The hissing sound the children hear and all the bubbles are seen in the vinegar are carbon dioxide bubbles produced in this chemical reaction.

Alpha science toys today’s rainbow dinosaur eggs, let children experience special kids science experiment activities and let them feel the charm of science in the most interesting way. There are also many interesting children’s experimental toys in alpha science toys, which help children learn simple scientific knowledge and truly make children fall in love with scientific experiments.
